40 year old Spanish woman, named with the initials J.C.R. has been arrested in Benidorm and faces possible charges of attempted homicide after stabbing her 27 year old Lithuanian sentimental partner in the heart. It’s understood there was a distancing order in place against the man who now in hospital in a serious condition.
It happened at 10,30pm on Saturday night in a residential block in Avenida Portugal in the town, and a full investigation is continuing from the National Police. They found a blood-covered kitchen knife hidden behind a curtain.In a separate tragedy in the Tolosa, Guipúzcoa, in the Basque Country, a woman has died after being stabbed in the neck. The Ertzainta regional police have arrested two men, aged 49 and 44, one of them was her partner, as their investigations continue.

Police in Benidorm are trying to identify a badly burnt body found in the Serra Gelada this Sunday after firemen and police were called out to a blaze near the border with Alfaz del Pi. Diario Información said the man’s body was still burning when it was found beneath a pine tree at the side of a dirt road.The paper said the body was bound at the hands and had a wound to the head, possibly caused by a bullet. It’s believed he may have been killed where he was found.No arrests have yet been made in the case.

All five arrested were Spanish and had several previous records for drug trafficking, and one of them for murder.They had been watched by the police since March, originally for the illegal sale and traffic of top of the range vehicles, and the police were waiting for the gang at Barajas airport in Madrid on Monday when they returned from Caracas, allegedly carrying drugs. However two escaped by leaving through the pilots entrance.A search in Benidorm meanwhile found 15 kilos of highly pure cocaine, 77 grams of heroin, and two kilos of hashish. 17,000 € and other items were found in a second search.

Three Colombians and a Belgian have been arrested, all of them with previous records for drug or arms trafficking and violent theft.Police in Benidorm have broken up a group of drug traffickers who had their own laboratory in the town where they adulterated the drugs they sold with different chemical products.Three kilos of highly pure cocaine was recovered int he operation, together with a firearm and ammunition. Two of those arrested are brothers.

Spiers, 40, was arrested by National Police on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder under a European arrest warrant and is being held in custody until a formal extradition can be carried out.The arrest follows extensive enquiries by Greater Manchester Police who were investigating a shooting in a pub in Salford in March 2006.Spiers is alleged to have been behind an attempted execution which led to the murder of two hit men.The gunmen were arrested but Spiers, from Prestwick, Greater Manchester, had been on the run since.Police began looking in Spain after several sightings were reported following a BBC1 Crimewatch programme that made an appeal in July last year for information on the whereabouts of Spiers.UK and Spanish police have been working in collaboration since these reports were received and have been searching for Spiers mainly on the Costa Blanca.

30 caravans stolen in the UK on Benidorm campsites

Serious and Organised Crime Unit, working with the Guardia Civil, have uncovered more than 30 caravans stolen in the UK on Spanish campsites.
British authorities were aware there were stolen caravans being sold to unsuspecting Britons, but the full scale of the organised crime operation was not uncovered until last week.Undercover police and a UK insurance investigator raided a number of campsites in Benidorm and their findings have been astonishing to say the least.
After checking the registration numbers of 120 caravans last week, they found that 30 of them had been reported as stolen in the UK.
Investigators have estimated the total value of the stolen caravans at one million euros. In the UK 700 caravans are stolen each year, many of which are filtered to the Costas by organised gangs.Checks revealed that none of the 30 stolen caravans had the correct legal paperwork or a receipt of payment.Police have been busy taking statements all week from the owners affected by the crime, all of whom are British expats.

Spanish police and insurance investigators raid Costa Caravan Sites

Teams of officers, working with Spanish police and insurance investigators, travelled to Benidorm to search two large sites last week. Of the 120 caravans they inspected, 30 were found to have been stolen from the north of England, police said.
Arrangements are now being made to return the vehicles to England while inquiries continue. A spokesman for the stolen vehicle squad said: "The recovery of the holiday homes in Benidorm is part of an ongoing investigation into caravan thefts.
"We are continuing to make enquiries both here and in Spain to find out who is responsible for the thefts and bring them to justice. "The occupiers of the caravans which we have recovered in Spain are often innocent parties in all this and it is unfortunate for them that they have bought what has turned out to be a stolen caravan." Officers have urged potential buyers to conduct HPI checks before purchasing caravans or mobile homes and avoid cash transactions.
Police are set to return to Benidorm later in the year as part of the ongoing investigation.

Policeman shot in Benidorm

policeman,Fabián Torres, was injured in the early hours of Saturday in a shooting incident at the old El Molino restaurant in the centre of Benidorm. Reports indicate that the policeman was shot in the chest with a small calibre weapon by two individuals after he had asked them for identification close to the abandoned property known to be used by drug takers.The policeman is being treated in the Marina Baja hospital in Villajoyosa, where he is now out of danger. The head of the National Polce, Joan Mesquida, has said that a full investigation has been opened with the intention of arresting those responsible.

William McFarlane arrested suspected drugs distribution and gambling den

Five men arrested in a swoop on drugs and illegal gambling in Spain yesterday.
William McFarlane, 56, from Glasgow, was taken into custody along with four Englishmen when police targeted a suspected drugs distribution and gambling den in the centre of Benidorm. Officers recovered £77,000 as well as a quantity of illicit drugs, prescription drugs and cigarettes.

Spanish national arrested on 33 occasions

National Police in Benidorm have arrested a man in connection with a series of robberies from cars.A police spokesman said the man, a Spanish national, was picked up after more than 20 vehicles had side windows broken and contents stolen.
He added that the detainee had been arrested on 33 other occasions for similar offences.National police have also arrested a man following a break in at a British owned bar. He has been accused of forcing entry in the premises early on the morning of February 26.

Roy Davis ,Mark Griffiths If found guilty of the murder and attempted murder the two men face up to 25 years in prison under Spain’s penal code.

Two Midlands men being held in custody in the UK are about to be extradited to Spain to face charges over the decade-old murder of 35-year-old Briton Yuri Slivinska.

The victim was killed at his Benidorm home on August 21, 1996, and the arrested men will also be questioned over the attempted murder of his mother Eva Slivinska.
The two men, Roy Davis aged 59 and Mark Griffiths, 37, tried unsuccessfully to stop the extradition claiming that it would be oppressive and unjust to send them back to Spain, but a judge at Westminster Magistrates court ruled that they could be extradited.
His decision was backed at the High Court in London by Lord Justice Moses sitting with Mr Justice Sullivan, who both rejected an appeal against the extradition.
At the time of the murder, police investigating the case believed thieves had entered the property and were surprised by Mr Slivinska and his mother.
He was stabbed repeatedly in the back and chest and his mother was left for dead with a deep stab wound to the chest.
Despite falling into a coma, Mrs Slivinska survived the vicious assault and since then has been waiting for the day when the men accused of the crime would stand trial.
As the investigation into the slaying continued, Mr Davis was questioned by police but was released without charge, he then left Spain.
Spanish police now claim that Davis paid Griffiths and two other men 10,000 pounds to kill Mr Slivinska but have not revealed the motive behind it.
If found guilty of the murder and attempted murder the two men face up to 25 years in prison under Spain’s penal code.

Scott Coleman Liverpool FC crest tattooed on right leg

Scott Coleman, 33, originally from Liverpool, who is wanted by Grampian Police for supplying heroin. He was arrested in Aberdeen in 2003 and charged with possession with intent to supply almost three kilos of the drug.
Coleman, 6ft 2in tall, is known by police to have links to Benidorm. He is described as of medium build, with short brown hair, blue eyes, with a bulldog tattooed on the centre of his back, a Liverpool FC crest tattooed on right leg – and lips tattooed on his buttocks.
Also on the list is John "Jock" Barker, 50, originally from Irvine, Ayrshire, who is wanted by Strathclyde Police.
There are two European arrest warrants in his name which allege that he trafficked cocaine and amphetamines to the value of £110,000 in 1998 and 1999 in Scotland.
Stockily built, Barker has fair hair, blue eyes and a squint in his right eye. He has links with Tenerife.
The list also includes Noel Cunningham, 46, who escaped from a prison van in 2003 while on the way to court to face charges over a £1.25 million security-van theft.
His alleged accomplice, Clifford Hobbs, was arrested in Malaga last year and returned to the UK by Scotland Yard.
